History
The origin of our department traced back to 1949 when we were a part of the Department of Civil Administration in Taiwan Provincial College. Since then, a series of transformation has taken place, however, our mission statements have not. We continue to progress to become one of the best programs in the field of public administration and policy in Taiwan. With a total of more than 1200 students and 22 full time professors, our department has become one of the oldest and the most renowned in the field of Public Administration and Policy in Taiwan.

Courses planning
Courses planning
Courses planning of our department balances between theories and practices. Courses for undergraduates are divided into four groups, which are: (1)Administrative Management (2)Public Policy (3) Political Economy and Government (4) Civil Society. Each course group contains 10 core subjects, in order to attain the demand of specialized study. Students are requested to major in one course group and take at least 16 credits among core subjects in each course group. Core subjects in different course groups can overlap for each group, and can also substitute as selective subjects in other course groups of others. At the master degree level, we provide 3 distinctive subdivisions: (1) public administration; (2) public policy; (3) political economy and government. They are all inter-disciplinary studies.

Future Careers:
Because of the interdisciplinary and comprehensive research training that we offer in our program, many graduates select various career paths after completing their degrees. Many of our graduates perform extremely well in Civil Service Examinations. With more than 1600 graduates who currently work as public servants for the central and local government in 2018, our department takes pride in fostering students for a successful career in government. A great amount of our students also continue to pursue higher education to attain teaching positions and to conduct research in top universities of Taiwan.
Not only do our graduates succeed in the academia and civil services, but also our graduates are frequently recruited into private sectors, including such as but not limited to: Finance and Commerce, IT industries, Aviation industries, Retailing and Manufacture sectors. In sum, the training and teachings that we provide enable all of our graduates to triumph in whatever they decide to pursue in the future.
